The training system is backed up right now, with no end in sight to the delays. Once you finish basic training, you will do up to 11 months at language school to learn French (Spanish won't help you here). After that you will go on OJT (On the Job Training), where you spend time at a unit or squadron and wait for your flight training.

The wait for the 3 month primary flight training is 9-18 months, then the wait for the nearly year-long basic flight training is up to 18 months. Then you go to learn either multi-engine, rotary or fast jets. At the moment from basic training to being a trained pilot is 5-7 years.

IQ is not measured, nor is there is a minimum requirement, you must pass the aptitude testing though. You are always competing against other applicants for a pilot spot, so the better marks you can get the better. There is no minimum though, if you are weak in academics but strong in other areas you could still be competitive.

I got in with a mid-70s average, but was strong in other areas. I suggest you get at least a few hours flight time with a flight instructor, this will prove you are serious and interested in flying, and will aid you in the simulator portion of the selection process. The Canadian Forces is one of the best payed militaries in the world, you will start low during basic training but within a couple years you will be making around 50-60,000 per year.

Once you are trained you will make 70-100,000 per year, plus flight pay. The minimum contract length for pilot is 7 years after training (5-7 years), so on average they are 12-14 years. This is joining direct entry, if you already have a university degree.

If the CF pays for your university, add a few extra years for education, then a couple more years on your contract. You can extend it without difficulty as long as you have satisfactory work performance.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
