Can't remember the title of a post-apocalyptic book/movie?

Can't remember the title of a post-apocalyptic book/movie There was a book or movie I came across a while ago based on the classic post-apocalyptic storyline - natural disasters, I think. There was a scene where a few travelers heading through the snow picked up another traveler who was a US Navy officer - he was supposed to meet a sub to take him down to the tropics. He died on the way, but the other travelers tried to assume his identity to board the sub.

They get to the rendezvous point, the sub surfaced through a sheet of ice to take on the passengers, and the CO let everyone on board, despite the fact that he knew these people didn't technically belong on the sub. S XO challenged him on that point but was dismissed because the CO figured it didn't matter at this point. Can anyone remember what book or movie this was from?

I think it's the movie "Ice". It came out in 1998. It usually shows on the Sci-Fi channel.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
