Give me your experience, ideas, suggestions, opinions please. We have a 'terrible land line phone' right now so I only use it rarely to make calls. We also have caller id so we don't answer unless we recognize the number.
We are moving and I want to just have the cell phones but my fiance thinks we need both even though it really isn't necessary. Give me all the reasons to keep a land line phone. I can only think of a couple such as doctor or pharmacy calls, but they can call us on the cell so what would be something or somebody that you would HAVE to have a land line for?
Need help trying to decide and to 'convince' my other half. Thanks in advance Asked by Lollipop_the_Bunny 46 months ago Similar questions: Cell phones Land line phone Do reasons land Consumer Electronics > Cell Phones & Accessories.

Several Reasons We keep a landline for several reasons: -- PEACE OF MIND: Cell service, no matter how advanced is not as reliable as a land line. If ever there were a time that we needed to call an ambulance or something for an emergency, I wouldn’t want to rely solely on a cell phone. -- SECURITY: I won’t even give a credit card or social security number over a wireless phone, let alone a cell phone.
I would not live in my home without a corded phone that does not rely on electricity. It’s not foolproof, but I why spit in the face fate. -- IT’S THERE WHEN YOU NEED IT: There are times when I use a low cost long distance service (OneSuite) to make an important call that I don’t want dropping for any reason (low battery, cell service, etc.).
If I talk to someone about a job interview, or a client where I want to present myself professionally, there are just too many variables with a cell phone. Those are the top three. Hope this helps.

No I do not have both. I only have a cell phone but for some people it is reasonable to have both. I may think of several reasons to keep a land line as well as a cell phone.
None of these apply to me and that’s why I do not have a land line! I think if none of these applies to somebody he should only get a cell phone! There are some people who have DSL or use dial-ups.
They want to have Internet and that is why they buy a land line. Some people live in West Coast and have family members in East Coast. They want to talk to their family members but because of the time difference they can not use their cell phone "night minutes".
The way they handle it is that the one who lives in West gets a land line and the one in East uses their cell phone night minutes. There are some people who make a lot of local calls and they don’t want to use their cell phone minutes for that. It makes a lot of sense for them to get a land line.
You may want to have a number to give to some certain places like credit card companies that call you too much and do not want to answer their calls all the time and be disturbed. If you have problem with telemarketers you may always register for do not call list. Hope this helps!

Cell phones are nice... But I keep my land line because that is how I get my DSL for the Internet. Another good reason to keep a land line is you CANNOT access the Unemployment Benefits system with a cell phone, or at least you can't in my part of the country. I am employed now, but should the unforeseen happen, I can still get my unemployment benefits if I need to.
I keep my land line for a number to give to repair shops and other places that might be doing work for me. I'm not real big on having every person in the world having my cell number, because that means they can reach me at any time. If they call on my land line and leave a message on my voice mail, then I can call them at my convenience.
I also have an ulterior motive for keeping a land line, and that is, telemarketers. I get a big kick out of messing with telemarketers, and I'd rather they called on that phone instead of my cell phone. But that's just me, you might not have an urge to tease the telemarketers.

Cell phone and land line I have both. I have a landline because cell service where I live is just horrible. I am not home a lot so I use my cell phone.
I just decreased the number of minutes on my plan because most of my friends and family use the same cell phone company. Therefore we can talk to each other for free. I use the same phone company for both land and cell so I save money on my landline. It works for me.

Land VS cell The only reason we have a land line is because our internet service is provided through the phone company. We live in a small town & we don't have any other options. I'd love to get rid of it.
We cut off the long distance service on it & use our cells for that because it's free. I'm sure it would be a pain to go around & change our phone numbers with everyone. There would be someone we'd forget, & your point on all doctors, insurance companies, etc.Would be an issue.
But I'd gladly do it. We have Caller ID, too, but so do all cell phones. As long as you're moving, now would be the perfect time to get rid of the land line. Sources: my opinion .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
