Depends on my mood - logically, chess is more demanding and takes more time to complete. On checkers, you've just got to make sure you're a step ahead of the other player.

If I'm feeling lazy, or drinking, checkers is a fun way to pass the time on a rainy day. But, the vast majority of the time I would rather play chess. The trouble is that it is exceedingly difficult to find people who know how to play.
