Cults The English word cult comes from the Latin cultus meaning worship. In one definition, any religion can be considered a cult. However the most common current definition of cult is a religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.
According to the Cult Information Centre, every cult can be defined as a group having all of the following five characteristics: 1. It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate and retain its members. 2.
It forms an elitist totalitarian society. 3. Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma.
4. It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds recruit people. 5.
Its wealth does not benefit its members or society. Most Christian denominations only meet one of these characteristics. Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ who was self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and charismatic.

The best comparative source is Leo Rosten's "Religions of America". It is available in most public libraries and available from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Religions-America-... ). This was original produced as a series of articles (for Look Magazine) fifty years ago and Rosten (as editor) asked each group to respond to a series of questions regarding their particular religion.
The material (updated and reviewed/revised since the original was published) came from each group and should be considered to be reliable. If you follow the Amazon link, you can take a look inside the book on their website. Add: With few exceptions, people are people and their religion has little to do with how they look or act.
At one time, there were common stereotypes for many of the different groups, but in today's world, it is unusual to see anyone who is remarkably different from the next person, _unless_ they belong to one of the "old order" groups like the old order Mennonites and Amish. The that only applies to the life style and their dress, because their religion is very much protestant in nature.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
