Could you mention the names of five (5) composers of classical music and write some lines about why you like him or her Apart from Opera, a type of music I don't like, I myself am a lover of classical music. I especially like J.S. Bach and Italian baroque with composers like Albinoni, Corelli, Vivaldi and in fact: many more. In our village we have every summer for thirty years already three months of classical concerts in the Gothic Church and all types of music in the streets and on the squares of Torroella de Montgrí on the Costa Brava.

Here's five J.S. BachIn my humble opinion, the greatest composer Western music has ever known. Logic on fire - the deepest and greatest explorations of the baroque harmonic vocabulary, demonstrated in the near infinite explorations of The Art of Fugue, the Inventions, the Preludes and Fugues. Thoughtful and challenging repertoire for keyboard players of all ages in the Well Tempered Clavier.
Majestic sweep of the soul in his sacred works like the massive Cantatas. Pop and Jazz musicians the world over pay homage to Bach on a continual basis, and most of the greatest modern composers and players cite him as one of their primary influences. The epitome and acme of all it means to be a composer and musician.
Ludwig Van BeethovenThe passion of the human spirit personified. S compositions emerged from the early explorations into some of the world's most powerful expressions of the human will, the rise of the spirit, the pathos of the human experience. S personal struggles only magnify the breath and height and scope of his achievements - not only in the masterful Symphonies, but in his other solo and small ensemble work as well.
Sergei RachmaninoffSome of the most romantic music ever composed. Again, the travails of his personal life gave birth to some of the most sweeping expressions of the human heart like Rach 2 & 3 (the second and third piano concerto), the Symphonies and the smaller ensemble/solo work. Also an amazing pianist (but that wasn't the thrust of your question).
Claude DebussyThe definition of impressionism in music. Approached the whole topic of composition from another place entirely. Arguably, provided a necessary bridge between classicism and modernism - contemporary music would not embrace all of the aesthetic range it does today without Debussy.
Beauty, complexity, melodic voice - it's all there. Frederic ChopinPerhaps as a pianist I'm biased, but the beauty, fire and passion of his primarily piano-based repertoire, and the careful exposition of the melodic voice continues to astound and compel me. Many would have listed Mozart in this short list of five, but for me this spot is for Chopin.
Hope that helps some. Best to you..
OK, here's my five ... Stravinsky - Innovative, progressive, never afraid to take a chance. S musical depiction is fabulous in my opinion - you can almost hear the ice cracking at the beginning of Rite of Spring. Britten - The intermezzo and passagaglia in Grimes is awesome, depicting different times of the day to huge effect.
Menotti - Wrote with brilliance, at times terrifyingly. Uses dissonance to dramatic effect, intermingled with the lyric and melodic. Handel - Just to show that I can get out of the 20th Century!
Very singable music, and much humour in his work. I imagine that he would have been a most amusing man, and probably rather mischievous. Arvo Pärt - Simplistic in some ways, but his music has a growing complexity and is astoundingly beautiful.
I also believe him to be a complex man, and his sense of humour is appealing, as is his perfectionism. Well, there we go, I guess that’s five. I can’t say that they are my ’top five’, as I don’t have one of those; I adore the work of so many composers it would be impossible for me to determine.
I do, however, love opera, although did manage to sleep through a 2 hour lecture of Wagner a few years ago, so he probably wouldn’t make it in to the top 500. I find his music a little too aggressive for my tastes. I agree though, yes, Corelli was a star!
You say that you don't like opera. What is it that you don't like? Forgive me for saying this, but it could be perceived as being a bit of a generalisation. It's been around since the late C16th so I'm sure that you could find something that you liked if you put your mind to it!
OK, here's a question for you ... name 5 opera composers and give the reasons why you don't like their artform. Thanks!.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
