Did America win world war 2 for the allies?

Americans views that they saved us during World War Two really annoy me, most seem to forget the years they weren't involved and the First year they were When the Americans first joined the war, they were spectacularly defeated in almost every engagement. The Japanese were taking Islands from them at will and the they were in full retreat from German forces. At this point, Rommel was on the run from the Desert Rats in Africa, the Italian Navy was mostly neutralised and Hitlers invasion plans were in tatters, the SAS were raiding behind Enemy lines with ease and the Kreigsmarines most powerful ships, the Bismark and Tirpitz, were sunk and confined to her moorings respectfully, while the rest were on the run, the only real threat were the U-boats.

We had also cracked the enemy's codes, stolen one of their enigma machines (despite what hollywood says) and proven our will to fight by sinking a portion of the the French fleet. And what did the Americans have to do with any of this? Nothing.

Yes the Americans helped, I won't deny it, we may not have been able to invade Europe without their help, but saved us? No, the war wasn't anywhere near finished, but we were winning, if only slightly. As a point America didn't declare war on Germany, Germany declared war on them.

Not true at all. Yes, the support Britain received from America was invaluable throughout the war, even when they were 'neutral'. But a great many factors led to an ALLIED victory.

The problem with people who come out with this 'we saved your asses' b. S is that they fail to recognise those factors. They also fail to acknowledge the Russian effort once Hitler had invaded the USSR.

Also, to the people who believe this (and who think it was all down to America), I'd love to have seen the Americans take on the Germans and the Japs all on their own. I wonder how that would have worked out for them? Possibly similar to what happened to them the first time they went into battle in Africa. Defeated and given a ruddy good hiding by a defeated, retreating German army.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
