A single spot check of your blood sugar is not a good diagnostic tool. Get an HB A1c test. Type 2 diabetes is when your body becomes resistant to insulin, so the insulin that your pancreas makes is not enough to get the job done.
Excess weight can make you resistant to insulin (and losing the weight can fix it), but there are other reasons (mostly genetic) that people become resistant to insulin even at normal weights. If you are starting to be resistant to insulin, this is pre-diabetes. If you are resistant enough that your blood sugar does not get brought down in time, that is diabetes.
(If you wait long enough, your kidneys will bring it down by filtering out the sugar.) If you are pre-diabetic, there is a very good chance that you will become diabetic without treatment. One of the biggest treatments is to control your weight. But again, not all cases of type 2 diabetes are because of excess fat, and they cannot be fixed even by becoming seriously underweight (but drugs will control it).
Normal Fasting Blood Sugar A normal fasting blood sugar (which is also the blood sugar a normal person will see right before a meal) is: 83 mg/dl (4.6 mmol/L) or less. Many normal people have fasting blood sugars in the mid and high 70 mg/dl (3.9 mmol/L) range. Though most doctors will tell you any fasting blood sugar under 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) is "normal", there are several studies that suggest that testing with a fasting blood sugar in the mid 90 mg/dl (5 mmol/L) range often predicts diabetes that is diagnosed a decade later.
Your chances probably 100 %. But here's what you can do to stave diabetes off. There are 4 key steps to controlling glucose levels : 1) EXERCISE- Walking is fine but Nordic Walking is Great.
