Be sure your piercer is reputable one. Verify they are licensed, trained, bloodborne pathogens certified, and autoclave all instruments touching you. If an untrained person does this piercing, there could be consequences.
You have lots of little vessels in this area. The tissue here is also a little bit thicker making it harder sometimes to see all vessels. If a prominent vessel is pierced it can cause complications--Check out your piercer!
This piercing normally takes 8-10 weeks to heal if cared for properly. Oral piercings generally do not hurt, unless you allow it to swell. Swelling causes pain so lots of ice for the first 3-5 days.
