Do English and Eu students pay the same tuition fees for any university in the UK?

This article pretty much explains the situation. Northern Ireland hasn't made a decision yet but Wales is proposing to subsidise Welsh students studying anywhere in the UK against the increased fees so they will in effect have their fees capped at the present level, but this won't apply to English students studying in Wales. And students from England have to pay fees in Scotland but Scottish students don't.

Just to defend Scotland a bit. Not to the asker but the general attitude from some. The reason us dirty jocks don't pay tuition fees in Scotland is because Scotland devolved after Thatcher's tory policies destroyed Scotland for ideological reasons.

This means Scotland decides how it spends its budget, its policies on education, it laws and other devolved matters. There are actual ideological and historical reasons behind free education in Scotland and it is to do with a tradition in Scotland in providing for the poor especially in terms of education. Also English people pay far less in Scotland than they do in England; Scottish people still pay fees in England.

I personally believe Scotland should have a graduate tax but the SNP abolished that. Regarding budgets. Scotland has a lower cap on fees at £1820 for all UK students and Scottish students get SAAS funding to pay that fee.

That money comes from Scotland's budget. Scotland has a long tradition of being a very productive part of the country; Glasgow was the second city of the Empire during Victorian times; Dundee was very prosperous as was Edinburgh up until the 1960's; Aberdeen and Grangemouth are the only reason the UK didn't go complete bankrupt in the 1980's. Scotland is not a tax cheat or sponge even today it is a major worldwide centre for video games, life sciences and renewables.

Scotland being sparsely populated and much of it away from populations centres is also naturally more expensive to upkeep although I would like to see the infamous formula abolished just to shut some people up. I find it ridiculous when people complain about Scotland spending the budget the way it wants but turn around and complain about Scottish interference in England; one rule for them another for us. England should devolve into one or several sub parliaments it's both insulting to England and the rest of the UK that England needs looking after.

The union can only work if all four countries are treated equally, just now England is being ignored.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
