Says the £36,000 a year is to pay for the detention of the illegal immigrant in immigration removal centres while they await deportation and go through proceedings. While I agree all people who have no legal right to be in the country should be swiftly and humanely removed, what's the alternative? The cost is mainly spent on the upkeep of the detention facilities such as staff and security, It would cost a good 10k or so more and take up spaces from real criminals to stick them in prisons, and you can hardly stick them in a hotel or B&B where there they can't be 'detained' and you actually can't just stick them on a plane right away, because there's matters to be worked out from behind the scenes, like whether their home country will take them back, security arrangements and everyone's entitled to due process in the law, legal or not.
You can't exactly bail them either as an illegal immigant who knows he's going to be deported will in most cases not turn up to the airport on deportation day or whatever.
If David Cameron did what he Promised in the Election to Scrap the Human Rights Law and replace it with British Rights Law we could Deport these People, but he is too Weak to do anything, so we are Stuck with these people living off our Taxes.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
