He's right about being concerned with their own wallets, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the irony is that the Tea Partiers are serving those who pretend to help their wallets while actually being the cause of their financial woes. If the Tea Partiers would look it up they would discover that their wallets fare a lot better under Democrats than under Republicans.
They also overlook that Obama has given them the biggest tax cut package in history. I hadn't thought about the racial thing from that standpoint, but I can see there is quite a bit to what he says. That does feel right.
That feeling would be even more compounded for those out of work. How do we help them to see they are voting against their own best interest, and ours? Don't they know that our country and our middle class were rich and prosperous back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s when the rich were taxed at a higher rate?
Men could support their families all by themselves and if their wives went to work it was frosting on the cake. Then along came Reagan, and it all started to fall apart as our jobs went overseas. Now both husband and wife can work and still not have enough.
I find it humorous to see the "Professor of History" make these so-called profound remarks while holding the post of History. He should know that any additional increase in revenue due to taxes, are immediately spent on ever more social programs and wasteful government projects. Never has congress in the last 50 years kept spending in line with revenue.
The Tea Party people want that "history" to stop. Whether a democrat or republican, this is clearly an American issue. Discrediting or pointing to fabricated 'he said she said' tea party members ain't fixing the problem....
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
