Do U find it mind blowing trying 2 comprehend the web of bureaucracy and corruption that goes on in government?

Funny, when I used to work for the federal gov't (NPS), we had to take an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States. Pretty much the same oath I took 26 years ago when I joined the Marines. I left NPS after 2 years, and I was told that, by law, I could not work for any private concern that was directly related to NPS or that would directly affect NPS for 1 year.

If I had worked for 5 years or more, there would have been a 2 year waiting period. Now, the fact that people contravene this law on a regular basis does not mean that the law is wrong (how many military officers retire and then immediately land jobs selling weapons systems...to the military. Too many).

As for "the more regulated an industry, the more they will try to influence government," well...that is quite true. And, when you get down to brass tacks, is as it should be --- so long as we do not let the businesses have more say than the people. If people vote, and if people actually try thinking for themselves, this would all be dandy.

Unfortunately, we have an apathetic voting population - on a good year, say a presidential election, some 30%-40% of the registered voting public may go to the polls. This 30%-40% of the registered voting public equates to about 10% plus or minus of the potential voting population. And we wonder why politicians are more influenced by business campaign contributions than to the popular vote.

Of course, critical thinking is in short supply in both the voting and non-voting public, which is why celebrity is as important in an election as content. Who cares what Scarlett Johansen or Clint Eastwood are voting for? How could their opinions really matter, they are actors, not political scholars.

Want less corruption? Be active in government (whether voting, working as a bureaucrat, or running for office), be the change which you seek.

Absolutely 100% correct, just look at medicare, over $40 billion waste and fraud a year! Federal government's job to uphold constitution and that's it! The private sector takes care of everything else, affordable food, health, cars, homes etc.. why do you think America Feeds the world's hungry?

Its not the government who produces food, its the private sector!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
