Do you agree or disagree with citizens being allowed to legally carry a handgun?

I agree that they should be able to carry guns...as long as the).

I am very for it and I'll actually be taking all of my safety/training courses and applying for my CCW next year. I'm looking at getting a Springfield XD 40 or 45 but I'm afraid they're going to be a bit bulky for concealed carry. But here's the way I see the whole issue.

Yes, you're going to run into a few individuals who will use their concealed weapons incorrectly. But if you take away the peoples' right to carry handguns (with proper documentation and training) then you're taking away the innocent civilians' only real means of protection. You won't stop criminals from getting ahold of guns and those people won't be registering their guns nor applying for CCW permits.

You will essentially be handing the country over to criminals. We will have no means to defend ourselves from real threats.

I have a hub specifically answering why citizens want to carry handguns. I invite you over to take a look. And to put to rest some previous statements... If the doom and gloom you want to forecast is true then please explain to us why it really hasn't happened in dozens of states with millions upon millions of people carrying legally for decades.

I argree for a citizen to carry handgun with the following reason.1 protection and securitythe answer is true.

Provided that all parties that will be using the hand gun have taken gun safety course and follow all the laws in regards to carrying the gun I don't see what the problem would be. I have heard arguments that no one should carry guns, but then that leaves one defenseless should a criminal approach with one.

In my country, the law strictly enforce restrictive laws on firearm ownership. Violent crime may not be as common as in other countries but when they do occur, it is almost always with the use of a gun. Firearm laws disarms law-abiding citizens and arm criminals.

We also have places where there's always the threat of violence (we have communist rebels and Muslim secessionists). The local governments of these towns choose to look the other way when civilians arm themselves to protect their families and livelihood. There are a lot more gun-related crimes in "lawful" cities than in these towns.

Armed citizens make for polite citizens.

I do feel citizens should be allowed to legally carry a concealed weapon. Up here in Alaska, a permit is not required to carry a concealed weapon. Every citizen here is given that right as long as they are allowed to legally own the gun in the first place.

They still have to observe all the usual laws associated with concealed carry permits. Concealed carry permits are available up here. They are mainly obtained for reciprocity with other states and bypassing waiting times on purchases.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
