Sometimes - it depends If I see just one other answer I will probably answer it, especially if it has been recently asked, because you never know when someone might give an incorrect answer to even the most easily researched questions. Also, just because you see the notice that "1 other user has decided to answer this question. " doesn't mean that the user has completed his/her answer as yet.It just means that they have started to answer.

5th answerer here, even though it's not that type of question I pride myself on the details of my answers as well as good facts. If I’m answering that type of simple reference question,I would still do so after others had answered. The reason is that sometimes you can give a very complete and somewhat more informative answer to a simple reference.
Say I’m answering your hypothetical scenario. I’d start with the name ofcourse, then s few links, not copy paste from a site and include his date of birth, place of birth as well as other projects he’s worked on. This style of answering works both for and against me.
I tend to be wordy(No) and try my best to get my point across. This is one of the shortest answers I’ve ever written. So here's a little bit about him.
The people who ask questions like that don't really want answers - they already know the answer and are just trying to get a few coins, I guess. Answering those just encourages them to ask more junk questions here that anyone can quickly look up on the internet if they want to.
Today I was looking at my Askville history page and realized I am answering FAR less questions than I used to answer a few months ago. I have answered a grand total of 18 questions in the past 10 days. Today I have answered just one question.
My question is: Do you answer more or less questions? Why? Is it because of the red curtain?
Or is it because of the fact that gold is totally meaningless? Or maybe something else?(I have been encouraged by a friend to ask a question. So, here it is! :D) Asked by Paradise.

Just waiting for that "perfect question". I answer questions in spurts. For a while I was answering more than I usually do but lately not too many.
First of all there have not been that many interesting questions to answer. The curtain does not bother me that much but what really gets my goat are the cut and paste answers. I never cut and paste an answer and usually spend time composing an answer in my own words and usually tell something personal of myself pertaining to the question asked.
When someone does a quickie cut and paste answer and gets the same as me or better I do get pissed. Since this is turning into a gripe session I will tell you something else that irks me. :) Answers with nothing but pictures from photo websites or long lists of books and products that go on and on.
Believe it or not I do like the gold. Not because I will get anything but it is a way that I personally keep tract of how I am doing. Some wonderful day I might even get AOTD.
Who do you have to know to get that? Anyway, good question Paradise and thanks for giving me a question to answer. P.S.Sorry, no photos, links, sources, books or 10 min video clips.
:) .
It depends on how much time... The amount of questions answered by this fella depends on how much time he has free on his hands to be able and sit down dedicating my time online. It varies day to day three six hours, with bad weather maybe more. The questions have a lot to do with it they are far and few between, many need medical advice from qualified persons, others are just plain not worth it.
I enjoy the fun questions and off beat questions allowing me to be comical, funny, cynical and down right crazy. At least I can have fun! No not Red Curtain, No not The Gold issue, it’s a time factor.
During the work week I answer far less than on the weekend where I will be here long into the night. I think if anything were a factor it would be time, we all have lives that need tending, family issues that need tending this plays a much bigger role I would hope than what you are suggesting! I will answer between three and twenty question depending on my real life needs and the availability of questions, how easy the questions are and how detailed must my answers be are another big factor as to how many!

I answer fewer questions, because the number of questions to answer has dropped off significantly since this time a year ago. The red curtain has nothing to do with it - the red curtain is a better equalizer than allowing cliques to give high scores based upon their friends answering the questions.
