Meditation can help do wonders. I'm not entirely sure about past life, but it will help you in other ways. It helps focus your concentration, helps you be able to concentrate for longer at a stretch, it can improve your memory, reduce heart rate, etc. The theory behind visualizing past life through meditation is that we don't remember the instant we were born, we don't remember our early childhood, and supposedly, according to certain beliefs, we never forget anything, we just don't know how to remember, and meditation helps us remember.
