Do you believe in the predictions/interpretati ons of Nostradamus? 2012 world comes to an end Fact or Fiction? Weirdo?

Michel de Nostredame (14 December or 21 December 15031 – 2 July 1566), usually Latinised to Nostradamus, was a French apothecary and reputed seer who published collections of prophecies that have since become famous worldwide. He is best known for his book Les Propheties ("The Prophecies"), the first edition of which appeared in 1555. Since the publication of this book, which has rarely been out of print since his death, Nostradamus has attracted a following that, along with the popular press, credits him with predicting many major world events.

The prophecies have in some cases been assimilated to the results of applying the alleged Bible code, as well as to other purported prophecies. I prefer to go with the biblical standard for prophets. "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him" (Deuteronomy 18:22). I don't worry about Nostradamus's nor about Mayans because both have been wrong.

I stick with the Bible because it's the only prophecy that has always been right.

That's a Mayan date and no real predictor of an apocolypse, they just got lazy and quit adding years to it. I recall Nostradomus predicting the end of the world in something like 3056 but we should have colonized Mars by then. This user has been banned from Askville.

2 I've read 3 books on Nostradamus, and have arrived at the conclusionthat one has to do a lot of 'stretching' to get at the truth of it...By way of one small example - Hitler was a big fan, apparently, becausehe, and others, thought he was "Directly" mentioned by what wasregarded as a misspelling "Hister" for "Hitler" in more than one Quatrain...It was known at the time that 'Hister' was the name for the river Danubeback in the day, but it didn't stop Hitler and his henchmen from taking aleap, and concluding it was 'Hitler' misspelled...Silliness...

3 Only God knows the date when the world will end, not some soothsayer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
