I think both overweight and underweight have it tough. However, I do think the being underweight is much more socially acceptable. So I think those who are underweight probably don't suffer critism to the extent of overweight people.
Paris Miley Cyrus, Nicole Richie, Calista Flockhart, Terri Hatcher, Gerri Holliwell -- These are all celebrities who are or at least appear underweight. And there are plenty more. Ignoring your own personal feelings about them, what does our society do?
Idolizes them. They are icons of the American culture's quest for endless thinness. Ideologicially speaking, fat might be best thought of as the crux of American culture.
We prefer that fat people hide their bodies, try to become thin, and never be happy. Many people hide their hatred for the fat under "constructive criticism;" comments that sound like: Eat right and you'll be healthy (read: thin). Exercise more and you'll be healthy (read: thin).
You should do it (read: become thin) for your health. THIS ISN'T HELPFUL BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE IS GENETICALLY CAPABLE OF BEING THIN. This is why BMI is bullshit, this is why some people look completely healthy at 110 lbs.
While others look malnourished.
We all have it tough, the answer is not simple. We all have a choice in the way we look wether we accept that or not. Overweight people can lose weight, anyone who says that they can't or have tried did not try hard enough. It is tough, but it is possible, People that are underweight are typically like that for a reason, either really high metabolism or other issues.
We all can change what we look like, I think your point is who has it harder in life, My answer is, the person who can not accept how they look or who they are.
I think in the long run health problems will overtake an overweight person's way of life and ruin it. Both types of people are going to have problematic lives since a first impression is usually based on appearance (if in person).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
