I would mark the occasion My grandfather died 5 years ago next week. S birthday and death day were within a week of each other. I make a point to send my grandmother flowers every year at this time, just so she knows I haven't forgotten either day.
I think you will feel better if you do something to mark your mother's birthday. If you have family, maybe you could get together and share memories of your mother, watch home movies, something like that. If you are on your own, do something that you know your mother would have liked -- a special meal or recipe, an outing, visit the cemetary.
Look through old albums, have a good cry. Ignoring the day will only make you feel worse, and possibly guiltier. Sources: opinion .
Of course you should celebrate! Why do you feel that you shouldn’t? I’m sure you know that your mom would want you to celbrate and be happy.
I know you feel that it is wrong to be happy, but you should be celebrating because it will make your mom proud of you. Also though first and foremost you are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, you are also celebrating your mother’s life! Obviously you were very close to your mom and I know it hurts to think of celbrating because she is gone, but that is not what you are celebrating!
You are showing your love for her and doing what would make her happy. Think of the wonderful times you had and how much you love her. Know that she is still with you in spirit.............. Here is an Easter greeting for you: May the spirit of hope that Easter brings, Help you find contentment in little things, And restore your faith in the Lord above, Who gave s life for the ones He loves.

You could make it a very special celebration... If you decide to have a nice Easter dinner, you could say a special prayer of remembrance for your mom before dinner. During dinner you all could share memories of cute things she said or did. It will make her feel closer to you.
You could even bring out some photo albums with pictures of your mom after dinner and share some great memories. My mom passed away right around Mother's Day....we still celebrate the holiday and share special memories and stories about her. It helps the sadness go away and be replaced with warm memories.

Of course you can celebrate your mother's birthday. . .
You will always think of your mother in a special way on her birthday, and I'm sure she would be honored for your to celebrate in any way. I don't know what you have in mind or how recent her passing is, but that makes no difference. Respecting her and sharing that with others, if you wish, is a good thing.
I can think of lots of very different ways friends have done this. Lots of people visit cemeteries and put out extra decorations at such a time. My friend's grandmother, who died at 100 two years ago, always enjoyed pizza and beer for her birthday in January.
Would you like to guess what my friend and her mother had for lunch on Granny's birthday a few weeks ago? At the church where I grew up the flowers on the altar were always gifts from someone in the congregation for an anniversary or birth from some family in honor, if living, or in memory, if passed. There were very few weeks in the year when the altar was unadorned. My mother passed two years ago.
On Christmas morning I took cinnamon rolls from the old family recipe to my brother's family. We all knew whose rolls they were, and all McDonald's fish sandwiches are dedicated to her memory, whatever the day, eaten alone or in company. I'm sure you are reminded of your mother in countless ways, small and large.

Celebrate her having gone on to a better place -- celebrate all the good things she did here on earth -- celebrate that the love between you and her lives on after her death. A prayer of thanks for all that she did for you, as part of your celebration of the Resurrection that you and she will one day share, would be a good celebration of her life and good works.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
