We always ate black eyed peas on New Years as well. Mom said it would bring good luck in the new year. Not that she really believed that, it was just a tradition.
I have no idea how it originated.
I don't know it's meaning. However, my Grandma always said one should eat cooked cabbage on New Years for luck.
I have heard of this, though not practiced it. I think the black eyed peas are supposed to represent coins and the cabbage is symbolic of green currency-- so it would indicate a hope for wealth in the new year.
Never heard of this before...this is the very first time I come across eating black eyed peas or cabbage would bring good luck in the new year...I would be glad enough to find it out though...
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
