Do you feel Alcohol should be illegal and Marijuana legal?

Let them smoke weed" picture Marie Antoinette saying that for effect. If I were to pick one to keep or make legal I would choose marijuana to be legal. I think America likes to get high (or drunk) and they will regardless.

Truth is many more deaths, crimes, suicides, ruined lives, etc. Have occurred and keep occurring because of alcohol in comparison to the use of marijuana. I do not need to source this as it is common knowledge and common sense both have their health risks but alcohol is certainly more dangerous. ~quote Excessive alcohol consumption is the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States ~endquote (cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5337a2.htm 1)(cdc.gov/alcohol/ 2) On top of the preventable deaths would be the DWIs, domestic violence, unwanted pregnancies, unwanted teen pregnancies, lost jobs, ruined lives, lost fortunes, etc etc. Alcohol in my eyes does way more damage tha it gives back in any perceived or actual good times.

I believe the reason for this backwards legality is alcohol is so ingrained in our culture and economy nobody could even imagine life without it and that makes me sad. The big alcohol companies pretend to be our friends (like big tobacco) and are so easy to get along with on the surface but underneath they have to know they are helping out in a lot of deaths, crimes, and other unfortunate heath and general concerns. I do not feel in this lifetime or the next alcohol prohibition will be retried or even seriously considered here in the United States.. I personally would like to see it back in my perfect world though.

Have a look at this source and see how the facts are reported here http://drugwarfacts.org/cms/?q=node/30 (http://drugwarfacts.org/cms/?q=node/30 3) This quote is from the above source ~quote "Indeed, epidemiological data indicate that in the general population marijuana use is not associated with increased mortality." ~endquote Imagine for a second we are given a choice today in 2010 to select one of these two NEW drugs alcohol and marijuana having all the information, facts, and statistics we do today we would just use plain old logic to choose as the one drug we could have and use legally. Which one would you pick?

I am for the legalization of Marijuana and get rid of the alcohol. I know of so many people that have died in car accidents where the other driver was drunk. One was a friend of mine who just got amrried and her and her sister was on their way to pick up the wedding pictures and they were hit a killed by a drunk driver. It was the saddest funerel ever!.

Alcohol has been except and used for so many years that I think some people (many Accually) would go nuts without it. I have also witness crazy and I mean crazy things that people not only say but do when they are under the influence of alcohol. Marijuana on the other hand has many advantages in the health field that many are probably not aware of.

I also never heard of anyone smoking a joint then killing someone because they were not aware of what they were doing (unlike an alcohol abuser). Most people that I know that use Marijuana are laid back and funny and are always in control. For the medical marijuana card you do have to pay a fee like 130.00 for the application, but I would much rather see that than drunken fools.

Alcohol too much consuption (likely to happen with only a few drinks) Unaware of the happenings around them Driving WAY under the influnece User can become mean and angry Finally DEATH! Marijuana; Cancer Patients (nausea, vomiting) Stimulation to hunger during Chemotherapy Multiple Sclerosis and Depression Cronic Pain Glaucoma Legalize Marijuana http://www.flickr.com/photos/darwinbell/306041740/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/elston/10160259/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wilwidner/3775413337.

No! Making alcohol illegal was a disaster. It has already been tried and it didn't work.It didn't work in the USA, it didn't work in India.

All it does is to exponentially increase crime, gangs, and political corruption. Making canabis illegal, while not a very good idea, has proven to be a relatively minor problem. It also increases crime and gangs; but, for whatever reason on a much smaller scale. A probable reason is that canabis has always been, and always would be, much less popular than alcohol.

The theoretical notion of comparing the health or social risks of the two items is not very relevant in this case because the actual subject of the question has been tested. In other words, if neither or only one had ever been made illegal, you would have to try to predict from such things what the results would be. But as both have already historically been made illegal, one can look directly at the results. The result of making alcohol illegal was a disaster.

The result of making canabis illegal was a mild nuisance. It has been illegal in the USA since 1937 and while there have been problems these have not been on the same scale as was the case during Prohibition.

No. It shouldn't.It's been tried and it didn't work. How about teaching responsibility instead.

I drink alcohol very often but I am not an alcoholic. I drink a cup of wine at night for my heart problems and it has helped tremendously, in fact, it reversed the problem. Taking away alcohol from everyone because some people are irresponsible would be like banning McDonald's because some people are obese and still eat there.

As for marijuana, I think it should be legal. I never thought about it before until I had debilitating migraines that no man made medicine was touching. On my 26th birthday I got another one and was about to go to the hospital until someone offered me some in complete pity for the birthday girl curled in a ball on the floor.

Some way to celebrate. I smoked it and I have never felt such relief before. No side effects, no drunken hung-over feeling the next day... and better yet, no migraines for 3 straight months!

I am all for legalizing marijuana because it really helps a lot of people. If I could take it and not get in trouble or thrown in jail, I would.

I definitely do not think marijuana should be legalized. While it may be true that alcohol-related accidents and illnesses outnumber those associated with marijuana by far, I think I understand why. Alcohol is easily accessible.

You can go in most any convenient store and get it, there are business dedicated to the sale of alcohol and nothing else, restaurants serve it with your meals and any kid with a older brother or sister can usually manage to gain access to it. Were alcohol illegal and marijuana took it's place - as easily accessible as alcohol is now - I think you would be trading the problems associated with alcohol to the same problems that would then be associated with marijuana. There will always be responsible people out there who are able to safely do just about anything.

But there are others who are deadly given half a chance. It's the not so responsible people that worries me. By the way, I know the following photo really doesn't apply - but it was too funny not to share.

Hmn.. I would not say that though. It will be hard not to drink vodka. Lol.

But I would have to say marijuana or weed should be legal given for medical purposes only. But anyhow, if you wanna know more of these things like legalizing weed then do click the source link below this box and forward on you will find your answers.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
