I fly into Philadelphia, or take trains. Atlantic city is very far from Philadelphia. It's not like Newark, NJ and NYC, which are right near each other.

On some occasions, you can get very cheap flights to or from Atlantic City. In these cases, it might be worthwhile to fly out of Atlantic City. The airport there is tiny, so it's much more manageable when you actually get there.

I know people who have done it and saved a lot of money. But personally? It's not something I usually consider.
