Yes I do. I no a few people that are struggling addicts. I tell them the same thing I tell myself, you got yourself in this mess, you can get yourself out of it.
Yes, me. Given up cigarettes, alcohol and many addictive behaviours but struggling with the food right now. One day at a time!
Yup, (puff - puff), I know someone, but he (puff-puff) has a hard time admitting it (puff-puff), , ,I agree with Spiritual Growth, there is the addiction, the addictive behavior and the addict personality. And, there are addicts of exercise, watching TV, gaming, etc. And other healthy focal points. Sadly or not we focus on the substances so many times giving the term addiction a bad rap.
Addiction is a psychological and/or physiological dependence capable of creating extreme anxiety. The object of the addiction is the coping mechanism for that anxiety and stress.
Yes, many people struggle with addiction. Especially fat or obese people with daily food quantities and regulations. Most grow taller diets cannot seem to help.
That's why, sometimes it's hard to cope with daily life problems. What is a natural way to really lose weight for good? It seems that food is still a big problem for many.
My wife's best friend's husband is a sex addict and she's really having a tough time with him right now because he refuses to do anything about it. Since you can't change what you don't acknowledge chances are their problems are going to get worse before they get better. She's at her wit's end now and I believe it won't be much longer until she get's herself out of that situation with him unless and until he get's the therapy he needs.
Yes, tsmog, I agree. It is hard to see pot use as an addiction. Perhaps that is what is most insidious about it.It does not ruin your life over night...just kind of makes time go by.
All of a sudden one day all my friends were married with careers, and I was still doin the same shit as though no time had passed. I then realized that I had been smoking for over 30 years, and had been high most of my life. Thinking I "might" have a problem I decided to count the amount IO smoked one day.
I counted 64 bong hits in a day. That is not casual use....that is abuse. I stopped and thought ...wow if it were any other substance, Id be a junkie, but because it was"jut weed: I was ok with it for all those years.
I have done more in my last year of sobriety than in the previous 20. Nothing against pot...I believe it holds benefits for many people and should be legal. I however have an addictive personality , and can't smoke just one.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
