Do you like large dogs or small dogs best, and why?

We've always had larger dogs...but... After our 95 pound Dalmatian is gone...I’d like to get a smaller dog. A dog that we can just scoop up and take with us with ease. Not a teeny tiny dog...maybe a Bichon Frise...I think they are just adorable.

A few years ago I saw one that had won a dog show...it had such personality. It’s going to take some thought, though...grooming vs shedding...I’m not sure which is easier. We had a standard poodle, years back...and I groomed her myself.

Ya, I think a dog of about 8 to 10 pounds would be great. Sources: Dog lover, too HELENofTROY's Recommendations The Bichon Frise Today Amazon List Price: $29.95 Used from: $4.76 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5 (based on 4 reviews) .

A small, quiet, non-shedding, friendly and very intelligent dog would be my choice. Unfortunately, I have a Chihuahua. He is not friendly, he yells a lot and he sheds.

He used to be fully, entirely male, but he hasn't been since he was four months old. Maybe he resents that. Upside- he does his business outside very discreetly since we use high quality dog food or make our own.(Our former neighbors had a huge dog that they didn't clean up after and the wind blows our direction.

Not good. ) I have met nice Chihuahuas but never smart, nice Chihuahuas. Ours is only smart, but he's so incredibly intelligent he amazes me and for a human I'm not bad.

He's constantly trying something new and I'm not always smart enough to figure it out right away. If he wants something, he figures out how to tell us. A lot of those ways are amazingly ingenius.

I don't know how he reasons multi-step processes, but clearly he does. He is totally, perfectly truthful. If he's done something "bad" while we're out, he shows submission while we figure out what he did.

Sometimes that takes a while to find, but it's always true. He's fiercely loyal. He will put his life on the line for "his" people.

He also sounds about 50 pounds larger than he is to someone breaking in, and is a vigilant and very convincing watchdog. He misses nothing. He weighs six pounds.

That gives him an average lifespan of maybe 15 years. Some have made it over 20 years. He's five years old.

Downside- He thinks he's a hellhound. He can convince anyone that this is true. I am convinced.

He is tricky. If he gets away with anything for any kind of time, it takes forever for him to stop trying to work it again. He will continue to try to find another angle to get what he wants if one didn't work out.

He doesn't like strangers and isn't friendly. We have to take him everywhere if we're gone any length of time because the only person he likes outside our family is my mother in law who is 85 years old, and nobody else would babysit him. He misses nothing.

Even in the middle of the night, if he hears something, he'll make sure we know about it. We don't necessarily care. In fact, we almost never do.

There is apparently a sound in or near our house an average of around twenty times a night. We have learned to tune it out unless there are people outside. In that case, he will insist that we become fully awake even if they're across the street or way out on the sidewalk.

He's five years old. If we keep brushing his teeth and taking him in for checkups he could live another fifteen years. We really, truly adore him, but he is a social life killer.

We have to lock him away when people come here and he complains the whole time. He would get hypothermia in about two minutes if we locked him outside in winter. Because he gets cold easily he wants to sleep in our bed way under the covers every night except for a welcome break during the summer.

He sheds less under there because most of his shedding takes place when he's very unhappy- and he's very happy there. If I'm holding him while he's having a difficult moment I get coated in dog hair. I want our little dog, just tweaked a bit.

I want him to be a loud, scary watchdog, but a quiet, loving, people friendly and also effective watchdog. I want him to live forever, just not during the times I have company. I want him to be entertainingly intelligent and able to communicate, but not "work" me.

Giant! Small dogs can be nice, but most of the ones I know are high strong and yippy. Big dogs are generally more laid back and lovable.

Of course, I’m a Saint Bernard Owner, so I’m a bit biased By the way, for other big dog lovers out there, I highly recommend the big dog forum bigpawsonly.com .

Large dogs I have always been a "big dog" person, ever since my face was first licked by a Great Dane when I was four. I thought that was wonderful! I find bigger dogs quieter and more attuned to me.

They seem to me better soul mates. There is also something satisfying about going for a long walk with a big dog! Most of my dogs have been rescued dogs, and I've tended to have German shepherds and labs, and mixes of these breeds.

I once bought a pure bred black lab that looked like the one in your great avatar picture, but she was so inbred that she was sickly and died when she was only six. We spent quite a lot on her! It was so sad to see her suffer because she was a terrific dog!

Small. They don't seem to drowl as much and you can hold them like a cat or baby. They fit in the house..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
