I used to fish alone when I was stalking trout on a long stretch of wild river. Since I now fish from a boat more often, I enjoy having a fishing partner along sometimes. About half the time, I take my dog instead of a person.
To me, fishing is sort of a ritual that provides a lot of alone time--time to think. I fished in a couple of tournaments and found that was no fun at all. I have to be able to relax when I fish.
If I want competition, I have lots of other ways to get it. Good fishing is therapy for my soul and if I'm lucky, a good healthy meal of fresh fish. Asked by woodchip 44 months ago Similar questions: prefer fishing Sports & Recreation > Fishing.
Well... I almost always prefer to fish with someone else. Many times on small to medium lakes during good weather I will go out with only my dog for companionship. She loves going with me and will pout when I leave her behind.
I often come back and find her waiting at the end of the dock. Sometimes she jumps in the water and swims to the boat. She behaves very well in the boat and often falls asleep with the rocking of the boat.
I will walk a trout stream alone but prefer to fish them with my wife as she loves this kind of fishing. I fish streams very slow and completely as this is the most relaxing. I love to flyfish.
I never fish the Greak Lakes alone or fast water rivers. It's just not safe to do so. I heard too many stories of tragedy or near tragedy to take the danger lightly.
I always make sure I have all the safety equipment with me. I love to fish with friends and/or family members. My wife is my favorite fishing partner but close behind are my children/grandchild.It's a bonding experience and some of our best conversations have been in the quiet on the lake.
I love to fish but I can be happy just baiting hooks and netting the fish. Just like camping, it's great to get your family away from TVs, radios, newspapers and especially video games. Campfires also inspire meaningful conversation.
I would never want to be a professional fisherman. It sounds great at first but is not for me. I enjoy to fish very slow and relax.
I wouldn't trade the companship and conversations for anything. Whether I'm with friends, family, my dog, or just my God....... Sources: My innermost thoughts...
Fishing alone I prefer fishing alone. I don't like being interrupted because someone else needs something, a tangled line, bait etc.......I meditate, I could care less if I caught something but it is nice to take home a couple of pan fish. I would prefer a dog to go with me over a person, the dog will be quite and listen to me mumble out loud.
I enjoy sitting on the banks of the river and watching the world flow by. Sources: My personal experience .
BOTH I definitely agree with you that having a partner along is really nice, depending on the partner. If it’s my Mom, then I choose to leave her at home! Lol - She is too talkative and squeamish.
I always have to put her worms on the hook for her and she doesn't have the patience to sit out there for very long at all. Short attention span. I also like fishing by myself very much.It is relaxing and I could be out there for hours.
I change my lure about every 20-30 minutes just to keep my mind busy. I don’t have to catch anything and I enjoy it just as much.It is good therapy for my soul as well. Ahhhhhh, fishing......
I totally agree with you. I have never fished in a boat by myself because I cannot swim, but I sure did wish I was fishing by myself. I love to catfish at dusk and I do fish with my Daddy sometimes when I fish at dark, but he is like me.
He loves to fish and he loves to listen to nature and all of the sounds, so he does not bother me. I am like you though...I could never fish in a tournament, I love just the fishing and just imagining what is going to bite my bait! Of course when I am fishing with chicken livers or ...salt water chicken guts..(yes I have done that too) I pretty much know that it will be catfish, but even then you do not know if it will be a channel or a blue or how big or small the fish will be!
I have caught turtles with those baits, but not generally. Sources: I love to fish .
Either way works for me... I guess as long as I am fishing...and not working...I will take it either way. I do agree fishing is great therapy. Relaxing...no worries...if you catch a couple fish great...if not oh well it was probably an enjoyable day of doing nothing.
I just took my son fishing for the first time on Monday...we did not catch anything but we had fun anyway and made some memories. Some of my fondest memeories of my dad and grandfathers revolve around fishing trips. So really that is what fishing is all about to me...quality family time...getting away from the computer and TV and video games...leaving the distractions at home...taking in nature and recharging my mind.
Now a days I think I appreciate fishing with someone else more rather than alone...but alone time is good also. As for my other outdoor activity hunting...I would much rather hunt mostly alone as long as I have someone else within radio range. " "importing fishing flies" "I will be "fishing", but just learning, in Florida. Any good hints?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
