Heres my first question. Asked 59 months ago. askville.amazon.com/term-jay-walking/Ans... back through them reminded me of a lot of things.

Remember when we used to get questions on appeal, if the people thought their ratings were too low? One user answered hundreds of questions every day, and appealed every single one...Said user even asked his/her adult son to go to his/her house which s/he was on vacation, and submit the questions for appeal! Do?

Yeah! I remember the appeals. I remember, what I used to call, the Friday night fights.

Boy, some of those discussions got really heated. Grandmabx 29 days ago .

I remember getting an invitation from Amazon to visit the website. Have no idea what I asked first but I remember answering some questions and very aggressive and abusive members came back right at me. They eventually were kicked off.

I almost did not stick around because they were so disrespectful. We all have agreed to disagree respectfully.

I remember when I first found Askville, the people were brutal. I was afraid to ask a question & never participated in the debates that went to 100+ on the DB. Remember?

Some people like to debate and I understand the need to speak out. All of us have that right. I did not like when it got nasty but I could just go on to another question.

Not forgetting to mention that I like following my favorites that have very smart comments and are very knowledgeable. Generosity in sharing experiences is rampant here.

It was way too long ago to remember my first question/answer; and there's not an easy way to scan through 11 thousand answers. However, the 93 questions were a bit easier. Here's my first: we never got that vacation.

Awww, so you never got to go rockhounding. Too late? Grandmabx 29 days ago .

When I asked that question, we still thought my wife was going to get better; and the medical crises hadn't happened yet. Heck; I was still showing net income back then.

I recall the "bogusville" phase, where people would do that. I'd see questions with worthless answers that the askers still appealed, - which, of course, got them worse ratings.

Yes. "What is the number for Amazon? "\Just kidding.

Like Violet, I got an invitation from Amazon and let it sit in my Inbox for about 3 months before I came over here to see what it was all about. I have no idea what my first question was, but I'm sure I appealed it because of low ratings. Probably had something to do with politics, either that or Afro-Asian drama and the blood type of the performers.

Ha ha ha, Afro-Asian drama. Give me a break. I was just thinking of MarshallD, Rocketeer & a few others.

Those were the days grandmabx 29 days ago .

Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end.....but they did......now this place is just a shadow of its former self, and not even a good shadow at that.

It was something about my blood type and whether my pet rock was prego. Oh one more thing, Why won't my silent partner-2 talk to me........

Boy, I remember pet rocks. Grandmabx 29 days ago .

Yes, no, and the real difference for me was my good friend welcoming me. I guess this is part of the reason I get ticked off at these brusque dismissals of homework questions.

Yep, I had bought some pee wees on amazon, and there was an invitation to live work play surf and ski with super models , hoe-za I said this is for me. So , I girded up my loins and went to askville, and promptly asked if I could find a 3way dimmer switch with a power outlet combination AWARULZ answered my question and the rest was history almost 5 yrs ago, my name was Good-ole-New-b back then , but I always like a license plate I saw in midtown Manhattan many years ago on a Lamborghini I.O.U. -0 and after a five month break from this nut house I came back with that name and an animated cockroach for an avatar, several folks gaged and asked if I could step on it for ole newbie times sake, so I use this heavy photo shop picture of a light house somewhere in the tropics , cause thats where I live , so I went back to doing I do what I do best and thats that, well not really -but it was a good ending Here is the whole story com/watch? In September, 2008 I wanted to know if a 19th century computer (the Babble device or whatever) could be built big and advanced enough to be equal to modern PCs -- people said it would be too slow to function We used to have the anonymous feature, and at the cost of 20 points you could go anonymous and many of my questions were things I'd dare not ask now -- like, would you be arrested for wearing a diaper in public -- these "forbidden questions' some might wonder and want real answers from real people -- but don't want people to know who asked .

I asked a question about schizophrenia and Shasha helped me out. The first post I ever read on here had comments from Maggo and Kar, and I got a big kick out of both of them.

If you could ask a question in Askville, what would it be.

For those of you that are NEW to Askville ~ I do a mug-a-day question and show a different mug every time....

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
