Mr. Smartypants is wrong. The only support for gun confiscation come from far left democrats and anti-gun groups. Pretty much every democratic presidential candidate has called for confiscation.
Politicians in states such as california and new york have called for blanket confiscation. There are people that have called for the rounding up and systematic extermination of gun owners in labor camps and gas chambers. We will not compromise with people that in the end want us dead.
Here's the thing, confiscation would not work in the U.S. You do that and the reaction by most gun owners is going to be "come and take it". Meaning the US government will have to use the U.S. military to kill U.S. citizens on U.S. soil in the tens of millions. It is also impossible out of sheer numbers.
Australia confiscated 650,000 guns but it is beleived that is only 1/4th of what was out there. An they were registered. Guns in America are not registered and pro-gun people will fight registration with all of the indignant fury to bare.
You can't really ban handguns; there are over 160 million of them in the country. Semi auto rifles number in the tens of millions if not more and to be frank many people simply will not comply. Connecticut and new york tried this Connecticut saw an estimated 85% noncomplaince rate and new yorn more than 90% to there registration bills.
People have been bringing standard capacity magazines into the states that banned them. Not only that they have stateed they are doing so publicly and in front of police and they are not being arrested for it because the cops have simply decided to ignore the new laws. The govenor and state police in connecticut were going to start door to door forced confiscation and they stated they would start killing gun owners.
That was met with gun owners saying if you start that we will kill you. We will leave our states, come to your state, hunt you down and kill you. So they freedom hating politicians backed off.
And that is a good thing because it basically stopped them from kicking of the 2nd civil war democrats seem so bent on starting.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
