Do you support offshore oil drilling? If so, why?

Yes As long as we are dependent -- as a country & as an economy -- we have no choice. (1) No alternative option other than natural gas or coal has even a hope of replacing oil as a major source of energy within the next 20 years. (2) Oil is getting harder and harder to find worldwide.

It is very foolish to think that just because we "order" it stopped "here" that -- that will necessarily be the end of it. We have to find a balance between the environment and our energy needs, but we have to be realistic on at least two fronts: (1) We use absolutely enormous amounts of energy every day and (2) we are not the only ones (and we have zero control over others).

We Agree that we can't afford this again... ....But Louisiana /Texas has Drilled drilled since day one, The first well offshore was Louisiana The Record for Spills is not perfect, but considering the amount of time, and the number of wells drilled, the record is commendable..Most wells in the Gulf are Gas Wells,Gas dissipates to nothing, in the air, Louisiana is the Saudi Arabia of Natural Gas, which will replace oil. Concentrate on Clean Up, the Oil Skimming is the Problem( a subject that Big Oil will ignore) Don't bundle Louisiana up with the rest,....Democrats/Republicans want Drilling.... the whole economy depends on it. We went 60 odd years with a good record, we drilled the easy depths, and with the increase in a barrel of oil, we're able to drill the deep areas, and of the 33 odd deep wells, we find one with... "Cost cutting at the Sake of Safety" Use the Gulf Spill as wedge to twist Big Oils arm for safety concerns in the Arctic, I'm certain they are no where near up to speed.

This Oil Spill has known remedies,.... though some need updating,... the Reason for the Moratorium is,.. How can the Little Guy get "Big Oil" to improve their Fail-Safe Operations, by twisting their arm with a 6 month moratorium in deep water...Big Oil with the best Lawyers, and the Best Lobbyist, the most politicians in their pocket.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
