If we all agree that the death penalty should ever be used in the first place, then yes...he killed four people in cold blood, perhaps with the thought in mind, says his ex-wife, that you "never leave witnesses. " If he would have killed five people, three people, two people, however many people that cruelly and in such a calculated manner, he should probably get the death penalty. If we're asked not to consider whether the death penalty should exist but whether he qualifies since it does exist, then he qualifies.
However, I don't think the death penalty really deters that many people. If you're sick enough to pull the trigger four times in a situation like that, you're not gonna think "well wait a minute, if I get caught I'll get the death penalty, better not shoot 'em. " No one ever thinks twice, and no one ever thinks they'll get caught in the heat of the moment like that.So I don't know how great I feel about capital punishment in the first place.
But ideally the jury shouldn't decide if he gets put to death based on their feelings about the death penalty, they should just examine the crime and see if it qualifies under Texas law...so I would have voted "yes.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
