Yes, quite often I think it's only human nature to be drawn toward something or someone who is pleasant to look at. A well grromed, attratctive preson with a nice personality and pleasant smile, might just win out over a more qualified person who presents themselves poorly. In both employment and competing for recognition...usually the interviewer is looking for a 'total package' that will be an asset to their company.

I don't think that the person has to be beautiful or handsome...but their overall appearance and attitude is sure to influence the interviewer. 2 Yes. It has been the results of many tests and surveys I've read about. Other factors that may be even more important is KNOWING SOMEONE, or coming with a really good recommendation of a known someone.

Demeanor may play a significant part as well. If you are the least bit uneasy or feel the slightest bit out of sorts, or out of your element, or pretentious, you won't 'click' with the interviewer. Your positive references, even if valid and unbiased, your education and experience and even accomplishments don't matter much, because these can be faked or exaggerated or credit was given to someone else.(for instance, I took a lot of photos for a yearbook, and because I was not on the yearbook staff when the book was published, all my beautiful photography graces the yearbook predominately but not one reference to me -- the photos and graphic artwork are uncredited).

Also, sometimes your boss got credit for your work so no one believes you when you say what you did, so instead of your accomplishments doing you credit, you are seen as a liar or exaggerator).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
