Personally, I think you should only follow someone if you truly want to follow them, whether it be because you love their hubs or you want to support them in their hubpage pursuits. I have to admit, I have followed everyone who has left a comment on my hubs or left fanmail. I figure if they are willing to leave a nice message, I want to support them in their hubpages adventure.
If they follow me and don't leave me a message I only follow them if I like their hubs. I always make sure there is at least one hub I am interested in before, I follow anyone. Almost everyone has at least one good hub.
To each is own.. If you like someones work by all means please follow them if you so choose. If not; thats cool too. I think its counterproductive to follow someone out of courtesy. It could be a situation where you like their work but they don't care for your or vice versa.
I think its helpful to read others work even if you don't rate; comment or follow. Thats just my two cents lol Happy writing!
Just to let you know there are a number forum thread, dedicated to this question and if you search through the forum threads you are sure to find one. However, I will give you my personal take on it, since you asked it here- I do not follow everyone who follows me. I follow those who I read.
I have many followers because of many different reasons. Some like my views, some like the way I think, some like my compassion for others and some just like me. I do not ask for followers, people follow people out of respect for them as a person. It is not to be used as a game, like you win something special to gain, because in the end there is not.
There are plenty of people who feel the same as I do, and then there are some who like to follow along following everyone. To them it's a game. Unfortunately what is missed is the point of HubPages.
Com and why it exists? It gives a writer a professional platform for almost anything, within moral standards. There is no nudity(should find any, please report) and not aggression type writing, as well, as hatred.
It is a way to make a living from writing, and with good effort could rate high returns on something that doesn't cost anything to begin with. So, I guess it basically comes down to an individual perspective about why they are here to as how they will follow people. That's about it.
Thanks Cagsil, for the info. Sometimes it can be hard being a newbie. I like your views and the way you answered my question.Lol.
Nope. I only follow people whose hubs I'm interested in seeing more of, and hope other people do the same. *cough* great hubs *cough* (edit: I'm not referring to yours - you'll understand after being on here longer)Most people don't have the same interests.
There's no point to followers at all if everyone just uses it as a handshake. :).
Not exactly, I know if someone follows me then I will definitely check out their profile and hubs. I think people should but its not a too common thing.
In most cases I follow those that have followed me but generally because their work interests me.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
