There may be many reasons why having a dog isn't possible in some families. First of all it might be financial. Secondly most parents know only too well that once the initial enthusiasm for having a pet has worn off, it's all going to land in their lap - most of all mum's lap.
Hopefully parents know that having a dog is a life-time commitment and further, that puppies take a lot of work, work they may not be prepared to give. They should also know that if working full time, and the kids being at school, this means a puppy will be spending way too much time alone at home. Meaning mess, destruction and noise.
If your parents say no, then that's NO. And, like me, you'll have to wait until you are old enough to move out - and even then once you realise about finances, accommodation and time (not necessarily in that order), you may still have to wait. We didn't have a dog until I could stop working full time.
And that wasn't for some time after I was married and moved out of the family home.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
