Do you think modern man has become slave to machines (gadgets)?

It depends from a person to person. For me, yes I am a slave to machines. My morning starts from watching news on TV, then I am using my PC in the office and cell phone, then I use my car to go back to my home, but as suggested by hubchief, a poor person who cannot afford these types of gadgets or machines and has not become a slave to machines.

I would take a balanced shot as yes and no. "yes" for those who have resources and acccess to such privilages . "no' for those who are still living in poor countries, are modern man for their living environment but still work by their hands and legs, still go to live sessions for entertainment.

Speaking of me, I am slave to machine... spend 90% of my day on laptop, in car and listening to cell phone. I love when I go on vacation for a hiking trip.

Modern man become slave to gadgets is too harsh to accept. But it is true that gadget like cell phone becomes very helpful to get information quickly and also to accomplish the work through cell phone instead of personal presence.

I think that machines serve us well, think of how we need our computer for work and how quickly we can do our work (and find information online) because of it... Then, getting to work is made so much easier with your own vehicle. Overall, I think modern machines have made our life much easier. As for other 'gadgets' we can take or leave them if we like.

Personally I love my GPS for helping me navigate around the city. I would still do okay without it though - I used to spend so much time stopping at the site of the road reading the (often out-dated) Street Directory. Any gadget that's affordable and makes life a little easier is okay by me!

Absolutely. There has been tremendous benefit in technology of the past 10 years but it does have some bad effects as well. Children don't know how to spell anymore because of all their IM chat lingo (that's instant messenger to the oldies around here).

They also have zero patience. Everything has to be fast and immediate. That's definitely a result of high speed internet and the like.

Yes modern man has become slave to machines because now he can't imagine life without these crappy things and these machine no doubt have created easiness but also ruined the man's natural life :(.

Yes. In a hospital, many people would not live without a machine; and often the quality of life does not seem to warrant it. However, nobody wants to play God and request that the machine is turned off.

Before machines, if you survived you lived; otherwise you died. Everyone depends on cell phones, calculators, photocopiers, computers and other appliances. Sure they afford convenience.

But you and I know that many machines are the source of laziness and addiction. The television has proven to be addictive as most individuals have become 'coach potatoes', hardly ever seeing outdoors and not wanting to miss their favorite show. Bodies tell the story.

Yes, machines make most of us slaves.

Absolutely! Most humans in developed countries cannot live without their gadgets! We need our cell phones, laptops, microwaves, televisions and so many other things to survive!

Imagine how we feel when we can't find our cell phones...we feel as though the world is ending! LOL.

I think there are machines and devices that are extremely useful and I am very appreciative of them. However there are also some that are just unnecessary and too much of a distraction, and I really wish I could go without them. It is so hard to break away from the conveniences of everyday life, while still remaining an active member of our society. In the end I don't think we are too bad off however as long as we take breaks away from this lifestyle and get out into the natural element which we used to be so intimately a part of.

YES! But it is the future so get used to it! Lol.

No. Dependent?Yes. Slaves have absolutely no choice in changing things.

I think the answer to this quetion depends on who you ask. People living in urban environments with decent earning tend to be addicted to gadgets and devices like cellphones and computers.

If man needs any information regarding something, he would trust machine more than the human. He would not ask or trust on any human regarding that, but he would trust Internet for the information. Even while operating television, stereo, or VCD, etc., no one could live without remote control.

Persons owning two-wheelers or four-wheelers cannot go without it and if they have one brand, they would love to think, dream, and plan for the next model. One cannot sit without cooler or air-conditioner in home, office, or car, as they have become habitual of it. Whereas in the past, our forefather even spent their lives even without fans, and NO DOUBT THEY HAD A HEALTHIER LIVES THAN US.

For washing clothes, washing machine is a must; otherwise, it would be a very difficult task to be performed manually. PREGNANT FEMALES are also assessed by machines; i.e. Now-a-days, ELECTRIC CREMATION is also being performed by the machines.

Even for money transactions, people choose Internet Banking or ATMs. Very few people could tell you when they had last been to their banks. ALL THESE POINTS CAN EXPLAIN CLEARLY HOW MACHINES HAVE MADE MAN A SLAVE?

Man's so much dependence on machines has made them listless and obese. As most of the work is done by machines, there is less physical activity, that results in obesity, sickness, and loss of immune power. Today's man cannot be considered as stronger as the man of the past.

Even the kids can be seen flabby and having less stamina just because of the machines they use for all the work that could be done manually. Man has become captive behind the bars of machines all around him. One can imagine the situation If There Is A Power Failure; it seems the life will come to a standstill, as machines need electricity and without electricity there will be no work at all.

NO DOUBT SCIENCE HAS MADE OUR LIFE EASYGOING, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IT HAS ALSO SPOILED IT.......IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND......

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
