Do you think that by the end of 1854 the two sections had reached an impasse and that Civil War was inevitable sooner or later?

1854 was the Bleeding Kansas time, when the hopeful attempt at a local voting solution (by the optimist Stephen Douglas) showed that the slavery issue was doomed to be resolved by bloodshed.1850 was the time when the war could have been averted - by admitting the huge territory of California as two states, one slave and one free, adjoining on the Missouri line.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
