Since we are the ones who define and create the parameters for intelligence, we are biased in our own favor. If we really wanted to have a clear, unbiased assessment we would truly need a third party to make that judgment. I really don't think that we'd come out on top.. I think we give ourselves too much credit.
We are adaptive, resourceful and ingenious that is true.. but so are most other living things. Language does not set us apart either.. we are the ones who define that as well, not realizing that every living thing communicates, and some in far more sophisticated ways than we do. I mean can we read a scent message?
No... we can't even smell it, our olfactory senses aren't even developed enough to detect a fraction of the scents other living things can. Heck it's wasn't until recently that we even realized elephants make sounds beyond the range of our hearing and use the to communicate over vast distances.. Whales do the same, and we can't even decipher what they are saying. I think when it comes down to it we only think we are the most intelligent because we aren't yet capable of even detecting other types of intelligence and communication alien to our own.
Think of it this way.. if a person makes a discovery that makes them the paramount voice of knowledge in the world... yet is ignorant of the fact that someone else 100 years in the past made the same discovery .. who is the more intelligent? We think we know so much, but in truth we know very little, and we learn less when we credit ourselves for our ignorance.
Usually justice is given by all parties. But in this matter we are the only ones who have six senses and can communicate with the help of languages. Our closest relatives the apes don't have their own language.
But on the other hand dolphins have their own languages and know the difference between them too. If dolphins' ancestors had chosen to live on land rather than water, dolphins would have been more intelligent and powerful than humans. But since there is no one to question us and no one to utilise the resources more appropriately than others,we are the most powerful and skillful race of all createures on earth.
I would say it is correct as there is no one to challenge us.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
