Do you think the Chinese Civil Service Examinations could be put into use in todays society?

Sure they could. The real question is, why would you want to?

See, excellence on a standardized test shows that you're good at taking tests, and that you know the material that's being tested. It doesn't measure the ability to adapt to new situations, the ability to innovate, or the ability to think creatively. It can measure the ability to think critically, but to do that you need to allow a lot of essay answers, which take longer to grade, and are more subjective.

This kind of plan sounds great to folks scored really high on the ACT, but it also sounds bad to folks who understand that the test doesn't measure all kinds of things that are vital for effective administration/governance/management/ leadership/what have you.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
