Do you tip a hairstylist who is also the owner of the salon?

(Do you take the hairwasher girl and the hairdryer girl's tips out of that, or give it in addition?) What about co-owners (i.e. 3 owners for the same salon? ) Asked by AP 53 months ago Similar questions: tip hairstylist owner salon Lifestyle > Etiquette.

If I plan on returning and desire a great haircut you bet I do! The more the better. Yes, tip everyone separately or they might not know from whom the tip originated.

Shampooers and finishers - a couple of bucks each - depending on level of service and how much time they spent with you. The stylist should get 15-20% of the total, but if you go to an in-and-out kind of place where you put you name on a list and wait...cuts are about 15bucks. So cheap that if I go there, I leave a $20 bill and call it a day. It's just good biz!

.

If its a plush salon If your getting your hair done in a salon where they actually have a shampoo girl, then you can afford the 20% tip. If the oqwner is the one doing the service, then of course you must tip her. The salons I have managed never had a "shampoo girl" the stylists ususally do the shampooing..........so I normally give a 20% tip unless they did something a "little extra" then I will tip accordially.

You NEVER want to stiff your stylists, especially if your coming back..................they hold your hair in their hands.

Owners of salons don'ttake tips Anytime I've been in a salon the owner never takes a tip. You can offer but they always refuse. The owner generally gets 50% of what employees take in, so if it's a $50 haircut, the owner gets $25 and the stylist gets the other $25..

I think a lot of people assume that the stylist/salon owner makes lots of money because of the commission split, but do not realize that the money does not go directly into the pocket of the salon owner. That revenue goes to pay the overhead of the salon along with the revenue brought in by the stylist/owner. As stylist4YRS said, the stylist/owner many times does not receive a paycheck and only goes home with tips.In any instance it is a nice courtesy to tip any stylist even if they own the salon.

Allow them to tell you to keep it if they do not accept tips.

1 They used to say no - but that was many yars ago. I have never had a problem when I gave a tip and I go higher if I am more work. For a $14 haircut today I gave a $5 tip.

I wash my hair before I go. It may be different for women, but the place I go serves both.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
