No - you do not tip the owner I used to get my haircut regularly by a salon owner and never tipped him. I did tip the shampoo person. However, at the holidays, I gave the salon owner a gift for his family - a big tin of flavored popcorn, and a gift for him, a bottle of nice wine..

No but yes I don't feel obligated to tip, but I do it anyway. I own a small business, and I probably make less than anyone who works for me. The fact that she raised the prices is probably because it costs so much to have a business these days; taxes, workman's comp and insurance, rent; all of these are the responsibility of the owner; that person is the one up at 4 AM wondering how she will meet payroll and buy the paper towels.

Give her a tip; it probably means more to her than it does to you.

I have read several places that you do not have to tip the owner. However, I go to a friend who owns her own salon and tip her and she takes it...but I have never asked her about it because she is a friend. I also know if I went somewhere else I wouldn’t like the cut, so it doesn’t bother me.So, I guess it is up to the person.

I would say, however, that if the owner increased her prices by $10, then she built a tip in and I would not tip her more. If there is a time that you think the job is exceptional, took a lot of time and you feel like tipping, then I would.It’s hard to find a great hairdresser! Sources: my opinion .

No You are never obligated to give anything that isn’t on the final bill. But at the end of the day, that’s your own vision of what is socially decent that prime.

1 honestly...I don't think it should matter whether or not the person doing your hair or nails is the owner of the salon. They are working just as hard to make you happy, so why not give them a little something to show that you appreciate them. They still have bills to pay just like everyone else.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
