Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Bethel Woods, New York The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is a not-for-profit performing arts center and museum located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival in Bethel, New York, which took place on a parcel of the original Max Yasgur's Dairy Farm. Owner and recreator Alan Gerry hawked the site as a second Woodstock performing arts center. The design, the lay out, the facilities were supposed to recreate the Woodstock experience -- nothing could be further from the original Woodstock.
It has been turned into a "Disneyfied" commercial enterprise with no flavor. To go to a concert there -- even just to sit on the lawn -- one is searched by TSA bullies, leaving one to wonder exactly what has happened since the days of "peace, love, and understanding.
