Does anyone have any good ideas on teaching girls leadership ages 11 and under? I need some new ideas for my girl scouts?

I've had quite a lot of experience with Cub Scouts (similar ages to your girls, but these are all lads! ) here in the United Kingdom|UK, and a couple of years ago we attempted to get a few of our older boys to take on more of a leadership role. Our main tactic was to throw them right into the middle of things!

We sat a few of them down in a room and asked them to plan their 'ideal meeting' (you could start small - we were thinking big! ), and helped guide their wild imaginations to come up with a feasible plan. We then dropped the bombshell that they would be running said meeting!

Needless to say, the actual meeting was a nightmare (I firmly remember drowning my sorrows in the pub afterwards! ), but with a bit of coaching the boys did actually show some good signs of leadership! We also put an older boy in charge of a few younger boys for meetings and camps ('Sixers' - don't know if you have a similar system?).

We found that when left to their own devices on camps, the younger boys would look up to their elders and learn from them - and the older boys would realise this and play up to the role. That didn't require much effort, just reminding the older ones not to do anything stupid! Would love to hear how you get on with your Scouts!

Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
