It is difficult. It took me 30+ years to finally break the habit. What finally made it happen was seeing my daughter biting her nails.
I couldn't let her start down that path and I couldn't tell her to stop when I was doing it. Six months later I still haven't bitten my nails. I've used the nail biting liquid in the past.
I caution you on two things; the taste gets on everything you eat with your hands (fries, grapes, apples, etc) and it is REALLY shiny. On a guy that normally looks strange. I've tried hypnosis tapes but never in person.
The tapes didn't work for me, but I have heard from others that they do work. What really worked this time was having a reason to stop (my daughter), keeping track of every biting (and non-biting) day, not beating myself up if I bit, and rewarding myself (usually with video games or time reading) when I had non-biting days. Look at stopping biting as a process. It will take time and there will be some backsliding.
When you do bite don't assume the whole thing is over and go on to bite all your nails. Stop biting the nail, get a nail clipper (immediately, carry one with you), and trim the nail correctly. This might build up a habit of trimming the nail rather than biting it.
Good luck and please know it isn't hopeless. If I was able to stop after so long, it is possible for anyone to stop.
Put chilli on them. Im certain that will stop you biting them!
Usually it is an environmental factor that can trigger a dog's anxiety and lead to them biting their nails. The best thing to do is to distract them if possible. If you see your dog chewing their nails, gently remind them (yelling will only increase the anxiety) and offer a toy or something to chew on.
Even sitting them down and brushing them until they relax will help. Dog Nail Biting Reason #4: Boredom Sometimes a dog is just bored, which will lead them to chew their nails. If you have a high energy dog that requires lots of playtime and many walks during the day and their need for exercise is not met, they may turn to biting their nails.
This is the easiest problem to combat since boredom in dogs is easily remedied. Take your dog for an extra walk during the day to tire them out. Much like with anxiety, if you catch your dog in the act of nail biting, offer a toy or something to chew.
Rawhides are good to have on hand and you can always add a little peanut butter to them to hold their attention longer. Any other chew toy like a Nylabone or a Kong will do well also. The more you tire your dog out with activities, the less likely the dog will chew their nails.
Dogs chewing their own nails should be checked out by a veterinarian first to rule out any medical problems. But if veterinarians rule out any problems, you can remedy a dog's nail biting habit by yourself. And sometimes it can just be a quirk, like my little dog has.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
