Does anyone know if decaf iced tea acts as a dieuretic?

I have been trying to find out if decaf tea has a dieuretic affect on a person. I am having to switch to decaf drinks without caffeine but I already know that caffeine does indead act as a dieuretic but unsure about the caffeine free teas. I refuse to drink caffeine free diet sodas as they make me bloated as well as they do not taste good to me.

I did grow up on tea, but after 5 bladder surgeries I know have to make more changes in my life. Someone please help. Asked by Poohbee 37 months ago Similar questions: decaf iced tea acts dieuretic Food & Drink > Food.

Black tea is a diuretic, not as much as coffee, but it is. So is caffeine. Combining the two is the fun part.

Most herb teas are not (some herbs are more diuretic than you'd think), and some herb teas might help you retain water. If you've any concern, drink a cup of bullion. The salt will have you retaining water in no time.

I completely agree about the artificial sweeteners in sodas; I always get a bitter aftertaste, whatever my daughters say about how great "splenda" is. If you've had bladder surgeries, start drinking cranberry juice. That's the best thing for your bladder..

The amount of caffeine in tea is not high enough to cause it to have a diuretic effect. The diuretic effects of caffeine are often overstated...it is true that caffeine can act as a diuretic, but (1) the dose needs to be pretty high, much more than in a few cups of tea, and (2) your body quickly develops a tolerance to these effects, so even if you're drinking a lot of tea, if you drink the same amount every day you're not going to notice this effect. I researched this some time ago if you want to see sources:ratetea.net/topic/caffeine-and-dehydrati... not a doctor though; there are other reasons to be cautious of teas or herbal teas if you have bladder issues.

DanielPaulDavis's response is also insightful--some herbs do act as diuretics, with effects ranging from mild to stronger. If you are concerned about something, ask your doctor or another medical professional whose opinion you can trust. Good luck!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
