This box connects any monitor to an ethernet connection * Zero-client connectivity solution * Connect and monitor serial, USB and VGA/SVGA devices over IP * Eliminate dedicated PCs, workstations, thin clients from retail stations * Save space, reduce costs, increase security and reliability * Utilize legacy terminal emulationConnectPort Display is a network-enabled video display hub. It provides one VGA or SVGA video port and multiple serial and USB ports for human interface devices such as a keyboard, mouse or touch panel. With ConnectPort Display, you can create a zero-client retail environment since you no longer need a dedicated PC, workstation, or thin client for each POS station.

You can run your application on a back room server or PC and connect all of your peripheral devices at each service point. A ConnectPort Display retail solution can increase flexibility and security, lower total cost of ownership and improve your solution's security. The ConnectPort Display VNC client software communicates with a variety of free open source VNC server applications.

This enables remote displays to communicate with the host without changing existing application software. Airport status displays or stadium scoreboards, for example, can be centrally managed and monitored from a remote server or PC via an IP address. ConnectPort Display also supports standard terminal emulation, resulting in straightforward migration from legacy terminal-based systems.

This gives you the flexibility to deploy ConnectPort Display today in a terminal oriented configuration and migrate to newer graphic displays whenever desired. Sony is the major player at the moment... Sony LocationFree is a 'base station' that takes either cable directly or video inputs from some source (cable box, etc), and connects to some sort of 'screen' over WiFi (or wired ethernet). Some models of LF come with an LCD 'TV', from 7" up, built specifically for that use. There's also the Sony PSP, which can act as a 'screen' for certain LF bases.

One of the LF models is JUST the base station, plus PC software (you can watch on your computer or laptop), but can also then be used with a PSP. My brother and I both use this combination, as it's reasonably affordable -- but the screen IS small! ;) Other options might include a Slingbox used in combination with a Windows Mobile PDA of some sort (Dell Axim, for instance), which also gives you the option of watching on a computer/laptop vs small screen PDA as needed.

I have both (LocationFree+PSP, Slingbox+Axim), and each has their quirks, performance problems, etc. The benefit of LF is it has WiFi built-in, great if you don't already have it. If you have a WiFi-G (or better) box in-house already, you might find Slingbox->wired->wifi-G->PDA(wifi-G) gives you a better connection -- both in distance and in quality..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
