It could be many things, but I am going to say (based on having this happen to me) that the hard drive is shot. I hope not, as when that happens, you might as well just throw the computer out. And you will not be able to recover any of the files on it.

If the CD boots up, then it could be your hard disk has a problem or one of the cables to the hard disk has become loose or the BIOS isn't recognizing the hard disk. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
