Chlorine can indeed effect hair color. I suggest investing in a swim cap. Swim caps can protect our hair.
You can find them at many retailers or pool stores. If you just had your hair colored it may be best to avoid going under the water at all. Pull all of your hair in a ponytail on top of your head and then just keep your head above the water.
If you go under the water once or twice, your hair color will not ruin. It is just best to protect your hair the best you can. Of course, not going under water at all is the best you can do for your hair.
All pools are different, some use more chlorine and some use less. Chlorine can even effect our natural hair color. If you swim often it is best to protect your hair from chlorine.
Swim caps are cheap and will really help.
