Does getting your teeth proffesionally cleaned hurt?

First off, congratulations on your upcoming addition! : ) Sometimes getting your teeth cleaned can feel a little sensitive, but most people love it. When your gums have a slight irritation to them due to plaque (I said slight, remember), getting everything scraped out can almost feel like getting an itch scratched - ahhh, a sense of relief There won't be any harmful chemicals used.

They may use an ultrasonic scaler or just stick with hand-scaling - it depends on the tartar (calculus) situation in your mouth. The prophy paste as well will not harm you It's very important for a pregnant woman to have regular cleanings. During pregnancy, it's possible for your gums to over-react to plaque, due to all the hormones you've got now.

There's something called a pregnancy tumor that develop if all is not kept clean. (not malignant, just a bother - who needs it? ) If I were you, I would schedule another appointment for another cleaning in about your 8th month.

This will keep all well, and you won't have much time to attend to your own needs in the first few months after baby's arrival I'm enclosing a link about pregnancy tumors, NOT to scare you, but just to keep you aware. Also, there's some good info about oral hygiene in general for the expectant mom Good luck to you!

Some people are different than others. I'd say for the vast majority it is a mild discomfort. I have very sensitive gums and teeth, so it is miserable for me.

Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm just a big baby when it comes to mouth pain.

:P.

Cleaning itself doesn't really hurt. The worst part is when they check you for cavities and even then it is only very mild discomfort.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
