Ugoboy, You posted a question to the Ask Dr Oz page on Mahalo. This is a page about Dr. Oz and is not managed or affiliated with him in any way. I am not a medical professional, just a survivor of a brain aneurysm.
Like you, my hemorrhagic stroke occurred at the age of 43. I am fortunate in that I did not suffer paralysis. I did have other problems, which with time and effort, improved significantly.
I am somewhat familiar with the use of Hyperbaric Chamber treatments to aid in the recovery of ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury. I know a couple of folks who have tried it with little success. One of these individuals had an ischemic stroke and the other a TBI.
I do not believe HBO is considered for anyone with an aneurysm or subarachnoid hemorrhage history, as it causes increased pressure in the brain which could lead to a bleed. I was instructed at the time of my CVA to give up scuba diving as the risk for a re-occurrence while diving was too great. It sounds as though you are fairly mobile and independent. It is good that you continue to look for ways to advance your recovery.
The most frustrated and driven individuals make the most progress. Recovery is a lifelong effort. You should check with the American Stroke Association for a support group in your area.
I have found the support and guidance of others very beneficial throughout my recovery.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
