Yes, the applicant must first pass a test administered by the New Jersey Department of Personnel. They then promulgate an eligible list for Lincoln Park to initiate background investigations. At a minimum police officers must: 1.
Be capable of passing basic police training at a certified New Jersey police academy. 2. Able to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for rights of others.
3. Must have at a minimum graduated from high school or possess an equivalent certificate. 4.
Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey drivers license 5. Must be 18 years of age or older. 6.
Be able to pass a thorough medical examination, to include psychological examination. 7. Free from a criminal background.
