Can't speak for all phones, but texting counts as minutes on mine.

I guess normally it doesn´t. It is charged by use. A few cents per text message.

You should look for a package that cover unlimited text messages or that includes some bulk quantities of it, you will probably save money. With guy or no guy, your daughter texting will always go up...

Make your daughter pay for her phone/texting , if she's old enough for a boyfriend, she's old enough to start paying for her phone and other frivolous indulgences. Are you gasping yet? Yes I believe that cell phones for teens and younger is a frivolous indulgence.

All they use it for is chatting and texting with friends, IMO thats not a neccessity, its an indulgence, and if they want one that bad, they can pay for it.

I agree she needs to be responsible for the charges; we're just trying to figure this out so we can tell her limits so she won't go over and have to pay for overages. Anniemdaffodils 8 months ago .

If you don't have it set in your plan then you have to pay a certain amount for each text. It can get very expensive so if they are texting its best that you call and add it onto your plan. Ours is 10 extra for unlimited text.

Just saw this question - I know I'm a late answerer --- but...With one of the Sprint plans - You can add texts at an extra $5 for each 300 texts. My son has it on his phone. I got to a point where - I HATE TEXTING!

- so I asked to have the option removed from my phone. (I don't know what happens if someone wants to text me - I think they get some sort of message saying it's not compatible or something (actually, I may sound mean, but I really don't care - If you want to talk to me - call me. If you want to send me a letter - write me a letter.

I just don't get the whole "texting" deal. ) .

Thanks for the info. I HATE texting and I hate it when I'm talking to my daughter and she is busy texting the whole time. Anniemdaffodils 8 months ago .

I guess I'm just old fashioned. I just don't see the point of it. From what I can gather - 99% of texting is just mundane uninteresting small-talk no one really cares about ------ "My cable just went down" - "I'm having a burger in my car" - "I'm driving to the gas station" - "I'm eating in a new cool diner"."My friend told me to take a hike"Does anyone really care?

.

Texting does not count against your minutes, but is billed seperatly. If you have a text package the messages sent and recieved will count against the package i.e. If you have a 200 msg plan and your daughter sends 4 msgs and recieves 3 then 7 msgs will count against the pack.

If you do not pay monthly for a msg pack then you will be charged the pay per use rate for messages sent/recieved. Most carriers charge $0.20-$0.25 per message. If you pay for unlimited messaging then your monthly service charges will not be affected by the increase in usage.

If you're not sure about your package just contact your carrier by dialing 611 from your mobile phone.

Thanks very much. Obviously I have a lot to learn. Anniemdaffodils 8 months ago .

Check your contract - you may or may not have unlimited texting in your contract - if you don't, get it. Your pocketbook will thank you.

Thanks very much. Anniemdaffodils 8 months ago .

You will need to obtain a copy of your contract and read it, as such things vary widely by company and customer. On our Verizon account, texting ends up burning more $$ than mere talking.

Thanks - yes, I have heard of that if texting isn't included in the contract. I will get a copy...most helpful, thanks. Anniemdaffodils 8 months ago .

Do not know what cell phone service provider you are using, but most providers have data, texting, and minutes all separate. I would suggest you talk to a customer service representative and find out what the best plan for your daughter would be. It might be a family plan with unlimited texting.

" "How long do you think it will be before cell phone service will be primarily unlimited minutes, just like land lines..." "Cell phone service. Where can I find comparisons on cell phone service for minimum use.30 minutes a month outgoing only" "cell phones" "Can I forward my cell phone to my land line to save cell minutes? " "Have you ever noticed how people who are talking on a cell phone or texting while walking are always looking down?

Texting and taking pictures are the only extras needed.

Cell phone service. Where can I find comparisons on cell phone service for minimum use. 30 minutes a month outgoing only.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
