Does Windows Backup utility allow you to restore an individual file that was part of a backup?

When you backup with the backup utility, windows xp packages your backup into a single . Bkf file. If I want to restore my backup, I can choose to restore files and folders to their original location or into a single folder.

This is time consuming if I just need to restore 1 or 2 files. Is this possible with the backup utility? Can I view the contents of the backup, and selectively restore?

It is not possible to restore only 1 or 2 files with windows. Windows holds the folder itself so it is not possible to do what you intended. And windows does not provide such function like that.

If you wanna do that you should use a backup software which has that kinda function. But most of the backup software is expensive...I don’t know there exsits freeware for backup. But I personaly use "Xcovery" on my pc cuz it recovers the system in not even a minute and it does not cost that high...I want everything so fast and cheap...^^ so it is not that bad to use for backup and restore data..it protects my system from data clash and viruses as well...it works fine for me...or you can find something just for backup.
